Justice on Trial
About
Über die Veranstaltung
Step back into the drama of the 1830s as two real courtroom trials are brought vividly to life. Each case — drawn from meticulous research by our history volunteers — reveals the stories of young defendants, the crimes they faced, and the stark realities of 19th-century justice. You won't just watch—you'll take part. Join the jury, weigh the evidence, and deliver your own verdict before the original outcomes are revealed. The first trial unfolds through a gripping scripted performance, while the second invites daring volunteers to step into the roles on the night, adding an element of surprise and excitement. Your ticket will include a delicious summer buffet, expertly made by our cafe staff as you immerse yourself in this lively and thought-provoking experience. (Please contact the museum when booking if you have any dietary requirements) There will be a bar open during the evening for you to purchase drinks. Tickets £30 available from the front desk or online Shire Hall Historic Courthouse Museum uncovers moving and important stories of everyday people's interactions with the justice system since the late 18th century. It shows how the law affects all of us, and how we can also affect the law. The Museum makes this extraordinary building and these fascinating stories available and enjoyable for all. As an independent charity, we rely on fundraising events to continue our work.
