Open Farm Sunday is your chance to explore a working farm and discover how food is produced while learning how farmers care for the environment. Climb aboard a tractor and trailer for a guided tour around the farm, stopping at interactive points along the way. See impressive farm machinery up close, watch demonstrations of cultivation, and follow the journey of wheat from field to bread. Animal lovers will enjoy meeting a range of farm animals, including sheep (with traditional Dorset breeds), cattle, pigs, calves and chickens. There will also be sheep shearing demonstrations and a chance to learn how wool is transformed into everyday products such as rugs, insulation and yarn. Children can get hands-on with fun, educational farm-to-food activities run by the Discover Farming team—perfect for curious young minds. You can also meet local organisations including Wessex Water, Brit Valley Landscape and Dorset Wildlife Trust, and find out more about the important work they do to support farming and nature. Tasty local food and drink will be available, including pulled beef baps, homemade dishes, coffee, tea and ice cream. Alternatively, bring your own picnic and relax in the dedicated picnic area.
