Tree of Strings: Musical Miracles
About
About the Event
Tree of Strings is a brand-new music festival for Dorset. Join us for a packed weekend of world-class music performed by artists from around the globe. The programme spans genres, continents and centuries - from classical chamber music to jazz, folk and contemporary collaborations. It is hard to believe that Mendelssohn wrote his amazing Octet for Strings aged just 16. It's one of the most exciting pieces to play and listen to in the entire repertoire: a work of unique invention, energy and superhuman craftsmanship. Beethoven was a great inspiration for Mendelssohn and composed several radical early works that fundamentally changed the course of music. His Cello Sonata in G Minor veers from operatic overture to turbulent waters and finally a rondo movement of inspired wit and charm. Programme: Ludwig van Beethoven - G Minor Cello Sonata Op 5 No 2; Felix Mendelssohn - Octet for Strings
