Evening Talks at Durlston In The Learning Centre 7.30pm 5th May: A talk from Coastwatch volunteer, Nick Reed, about the National Coastwatch Institution Lookout at Peveril Point exploring its history and the vital role that the Coastwatch stations play to keep our coasts safer. 2nd June: An illustrated talk from Joe Parker (Lundy Warden 2023-2025), exploring island life, its unique wildlife and conservation success stories. 7th July: A talk from Nick Tomlinson (Dorset Bat Group) exploring Bats, their lifestyles and how they live, thrive and survive, to answer the question “why should we care?” 1st September: A talk from Mary van Coller, author of Downstream Dorset, River Tales and Local History , illustrated with a slideshow of beautiful photographs featuring historical tales and meanings of river names and places. Copies of Downstream Dorset will be available for purchase, 20% is donated to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. £3.50, FREE for Friends of Durlston.
