Poole Harbour Osprey Cruises
About
À propos de l'événement
Our highly-popular Osprey Cruises return for another season! The trips see us setting out into the harbour in search of the 'mullet-hawk' during their peak autumn migration. Through mid-August and early September Poole Harbour functions as a vital service station for this iconic bird of prey, many taking the opportunity to refuel before continuing on their long 3,000 mile journey to warmer wintering grounds. We'll spend time in the Wareham Channel, the harbour's premier Osprey fishing grounds, where the shallow waters teem with mullet, bass and flounder and acts as a magnet to migrant Osprey. No two trips are ever the same as migrants stream through the harbour, and other raptors often encountered from the trips can include Marsh Harrier, White-tailed Eagle, Peregrine, Hobby, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Regular morning and afternoon trips mean you could also double up and enjoy a full day out in the harbour in search of Ospreys! There'll also be an opportunity to learn about the Poole Harbour Osprey Translocation Project, responsible for restoring Ospreys as a breeding species to the South Coast after a 180 year absence.
