Good to know
Free entry
No ticket needed — just turn up. Bring a bag, ours are all paper.
Dogs welcome
Dogs are welcome on a lead, and there is always a water bowl going.
No single-use plastic
Every stall here packs in paper, glass or compostable material. No exceptions.
Meet the makers
Ash Company
Woodwork
I turn bowls on a pole lathe with hand tools, so you can hear me working at the market.
Ash Harbour
Ceramics
I throw functional stoneware on the wheel glazed in soft oatmeal, sage and off-white.
Chalk Cheese
Cheese & charcuterie
We age farmhouse cheddar on the farm in a cave under the barn, which sounds grander than it is.
Cullet House
Glass
I fuse and slump kiln-formed glass from bottles collected at these very markets. Bring me your broken pieces and I will work them in.
Cutting Room
Plants & florals
I grow houseplants from cuttings in peat-free compost, in terracotta rather than plastic.
Ember Cart
Streetfood
We make Neapolitan-style pizza from a converted trailer on a single gas ring, which keeps the menu honest.
Flint Canteen
Streetfood
We cook Georgian khachapuri fresh on the griddle with cheese from a dairy eleven miles from the market.
Folio Studio
Print & illustration
I make screen prints in two or three colours of the river, the deer park and the birds on them.
Frond Plants
Plants & florals
I make dried flower arrangements from flowers grown and dried here, so they last for years.
Glaze Larder
Ceramics
I throw functional stoneware on the wheel glazed in soft oatmeal, sage and off-white. Mugs, jugs and serving bowls made to be used daily.
Honey Bakes
Bakery & cakes
I make Polish babka and cinnamon buns in small batches, in my own kitchen, licensed and inspected. Everything comes in paper — no film, no plastic windows.
Leaf House
Stationery
I letterpress cards on an 1890s platen and everything is printed one colour at a time. Named on the spine while you wait if you want.
Sourdough Table
Bakery & cakes
I make Polish babka and cinnamon buns in small batches, in my own kitchen, licensed and inspected. The seconds bag at the end of the day is the best value on the stall.
The Beeswax Room
Candles & home fragrance
I roll and dip pure beeswax tapers scented only with essential oils.
The Bramble Table
Preserves & pantry
I preserve whatever the orchards give me using surplus from farms within twenty miles.
The Ember Harbour
Ceramics
I hand-build slab vessels finished with ash glazes I mix myself. Everything is fired twice in a shared kiln in Brentford.
The Ember Table
Streetfood
We make Neapolitan-style pizza from a converted trailer on a single gas ring, which keeps the menu honest.
The Green Bench
Plants & florals
I propagate herbs and salad plants all grown outdoors within eight miles of the market. The whole stall is grown by me, which limits it and I like that.
The Hemp Room
Homewares
I sew cushions from vintage fabric using curtains and blankets from house clearances.
Wild Drinks
Drinks
We brew kombucha in fifty-litre batches with nothing but tea, sugar, time and fruit. Refills into your own bottle, always cheaper than a new one.
