Meet the makers

  • Ash Harbour

    Ceramics

I throw functional stoneware on the wheel glazed in soft oatmeal, sage and off-white. Everything is fired twice in a shared kiln in Brentford.

    website@ashharbour

  • Bramble Kitchen

    Preserves & pantry

I preserve whatever the orchards give me using surplus from farms within twenty miles. Jars are returnable — bring one back and get 50p off.

    website@bramblekitchen

  • Chalk Cheese

    Cheese & charcuterie

We age farmhouse cheddar on the farm in a cave under the barn, which sounds grander than it is.

    website@chalkcheese

  • Cullet House

    Glass

I fuse and slump kiln-formed glass from bottles collected at these very markets. Bring me your broken pieces and I will work them in.

    website@cullethouse

  • Cutting Room

    Plants & florals

I grow houseplants from cuttings in peat-free compost, in terracotta rather than plastic. The whole stall is grown by me, which limits it and I like that.

    website@cuttingroom

  • Ferment Cordial

    Drinks

We make botanical cordials from foraged flowers picked within a few miles of where we sell it.

    website@fermentcordial

  • Flour Kitchen

    Bakery & cakes

I make Persian pastries and cardamom buns and nothing leaves the oven more than fourteen hours before market. The seconds bag at the end of the day is the best value on the stall.

    website@flourkitchen

  • Folio Studio

    Print & illustration

I make screen prints in two or three colours of the river, the deer park and the birds on them.

    website@foliostudio

  • Frond Plants

    Plants & florals

I make dried flower arrangements from flowers grown and dried here, so they last for years. Pots are terracotta or recycled — none of them plastic.

    website@frondplants

  • Glaze Larder

    Ceramics

I throw functional stoneware on the wheel glazed in soft oatmeal, sage and off-white.

    website@glazelarder

  • Harvest Table

    Preserves & pantry

I make marmalade from Seville oranges once a year in copper pans, twelve jars at a time.

    website@harvesttable

  • Jar Row

    Preserves & pantry

I preserve whatever the orchards give me using surplus from farms within twenty miles. Labels are printed on recycled stock and hand-written.

    website@jarrow

  • Knot Workshop

    Woodwork

I turn bowls on a pole lathe with hand tools, so you can hear me working at the market.

    website@knotworkshop

  • Relic Salvage

    Vintage & upcycled

I sell carefully chosen vintage glass and china nothing bought to resell from a wholesaler, ever.

    website@relicsalvage

  • Roam & Co

    Streetfood

We do one thing — a proper toasted sandwich with everything prepped from scratch the morning before.

    website@roamco

  • Rush Homewares

    Homewares

I sew cushions from vintage fabric using curtains and blankets from house clearances. Made to be handed down rather than replaced.

    website@rushhomewares

  • Slip Pottery

    Ceramics

I make small-batch tableware with a matte speckle and a raw clay foot.

    website@slippottery

  • Slip Studio

    Ceramics

I throw and hand-carve porcelain in muted glazes tested over two years. Everything is fired twice in a shared kiln in Brentford.

    website@slipstudio

  • Smoke Streetfood

    Streetfood

We run a small Ethiopian kitchen and every box, fork and cup we hand over is compostable.

    website@smokestreetfood

  • Soy Works

    Candles & home fragrance

I pour rapeseed wax candles by hand in returnable glass, with a cotton wick and nothing synthetic. Each one is poured, wicked and labelled in one afternoon.

    website@soyworks

  • Stoneware Studio

    Ceramics

I make small-batch tableware with a matte speckle and a raw clay foot. No two pieces come out quite the same, which I like.

    website@stonewarestudio

  • The Rush Works

    Homewares

I weave willow baskets from willow I grow and cut on a Thames-side bed.

    website@therushworks

  • The Wander Kitchen

    Streetfood

We do one thing — a proper toasted sandwich with everything prepped from scratch the morning before.

    website@thewanderkitchen

  • The Windfall Row

    Preserves & pantry

I make small-batch chutneys and jams from fruit gleaned around Bucks that would otherwise go to waste.
