Meet the makers
Bothy Coffee
Hot drinks
I serve speciality coffee and hot chocolate from a converted Piaggio with a two-group machine. First fifty cups are always the best — get in early.
Bothy Textiles
Knitwear & textiles
I knit hats, scarves and mitts using Harris tweed offcuts that would be binned. The bobble hats keep the whole stall afloat.
Bramble Jams
Preserves & chutneys
I forage and preserve — bramble, elderflower, rowan, rosehip with no pectin and no artificial anything. Tasting spoons on the stall — try before you buy.
Croft Bakehouse
Bakery & cakes
I bake sourdough and slow-fermented bread to my gran’s recipes, with a bit less sugar. Gluten-free options on the middle table — clearly labelled and made separately.
Fern Plants
Plants & flowers
I grow houseplants and propagate my own cuttings on a nursery outside Kirkintilloch. I’ll tell you honestly if a plant will die in your flat.
Muirhead Croft
Fruit & veg
I grow chillies, garlic and unusual brassicas picked the evening before the market.
Rowan Distillers
Gin & whisky
I make a spiced rum and a coffee liqueur in batches of about 200 bottles at a time. I hold my own occasional licence for every event I trade at.
Rowan Scotland
Soap & skincare
I make cold-process soap scented with essential oils only.
Skerry & Metal
Jewellery
I make recycled silver jewellery by hand in a workshop above the kitchen. Free resizing for life on every ring I make.
Skerry Prints
Art & prints
I cut and print lino by hand in editions of fifty, signed and numbered.
Strath Growers
Fruit & veg
I grow salad, herbs and heritage tomatoes on a market garden in the Clyde Valley. I compost every scrap that doesn’t sell.
