  I fuse and slump glass in a kiln rather than blowing it, so my work is flat: dishes, coasters, small wall panels and jewellery.

  Lost Wax Lane

  I carve wax models under a magnifying lamp, which is how I lose whole afternoons. The pieces come out heavy and architectural: signet rings with a chiselled face, wide bands with a carved chevron, cufflinks that look like small buildings. Casting is done at a foundry in Hatton Garden and I do all the filing, sanding and polishing myself, which is the unglamorous majority of the work. Everything is available in silver as standard and in 9ct gold to order.

  Peculiar Pies

  I make hand-raised pies with a hot water crust, moulded around a wooden dolly rather than baked in a tin, so they stand up on their own and have that thick shattering pastry.

  I hand-engrave, which is a stubborn craft to have chosen in 2026. Gravers, a ball vice, and a lot of sharpening. Most of what I sell is signet rings engraved with initials, a small animal or a line of handwriting a customer sends me. I also make plain seal pendants ready for engraving later. Because it is cut by hand rather than machined, the line has depth and catches light differently along its length. Commissions take four weeks and I always send a proof first.

  Slow Grown Plants

  I grow herbs and vegetable plants from seed in a lean-to greenhouse and sell them as young plants for windowsills and balconies. Nothing is forced with heat or fed on liquid feed to look impressive on the stall, so my plants are smaller than the garden centre ones and considerably tougher once you get them home. There is basil, three mints, thyme, chillies and a good tomato for pots. I grow in peat-free compost and reuse pots, and I will happily take yours back.

  I hand-roll incense the way my aunt taught me, mixing powdered woods, resins and gums with water into a stiff paste, then rolling it onto bamboo sticks and drying them flat for a week.
