I pour into vessels I cast myself from jesmonite, in a speckled terrazzo made with crushed offcuts from previous batches.
Porcelain Weather
Ceramics
Porcelain is a difficult, sulky material and I love it. I throw very thin and then carve the walls back until light passes through: lampshades, tealight shelters, tall stems for one flower. I use no colour beyond a clear glaze and let the translucency do the work. Around a third crack in the firing, which is why the survivors are priced as they are. Set one near a window and it changes all day, which is where the name came from.
