About Popup Pal
We built this because running a market nearly buried us in spreadsheets
Popup Pal is built by a small team who found out the hard way that selling tickets was the easy part. Here is why we built it, and who is behind it.
Why we built Popup Pal
It started with a straightforward gripe. Watching organisers hand over a big cut of every ticket just to use a booking platform, on events that were barely breaking even in the first place, felt backwards. A community market or a first county show is exactly the kind of event that should not be punished for using proper software.
Then we ran a market ourselves, and it turned out ticket fees were not even the real problem. The real problem was everything behind the scenes: stallholder applications buried in an inbox, invoices chased by hand, a paper floor plan nobody could find on the morning of the show, and a spreadsheet trying to hold all of it together. Selling tickets was the easy part.
That is the platform we built. Tickets, stallholders and show day itself, all in one place, so the next organiser who runs a market does not spend their Sunday night doing what we did.
What we believe
A few things we have not compromised on since the first version of Popup Pal.
Your money is yours
Ticket and stall payments are charged directly on your own Stripe account. It never sits with Popup Pal, and it never pools with anyone else’s.
Buyers should not need an account
Nobody should have to make a password to buy a £4 raffle ticket. A secure link to their order is all a buyer ever needs.
No lock-in, ever
Your events, your traders and your audience are yours. Leave whenever you want, with nothing held hostage on the way out.
The team
Small enough that if something breaks, one of us picks up the phone.
Marcos Hardy
Founder
Ran a market himself and got buried in stallholder invoices, which is the entire reason Popup Pal exists. Still the one answering support emails on a Sunday night.
LinkedInAnthony
CTO
Builds and looks after everything under the hood, from checkout to the scanner in your pocket on show day.
Sarah
Head of PR and Marketing
Tells organisers’ stories across the socials and gets Popup Pal in front of the press and partners who put it in front of more organisers.
